An experienced professional who has many years expertise working in different educational environments, sports organisations and within the Health and Fitness industry, I have great passion for these areas. Qualified with the Certificate in Education, I also have an MSc in Exercise and Health Science (Bristol) and a BSc in Physical Education and Sports Science (Loughborough) with my postgraduate dissertation focused on pregnancy, activity and body image, and my undergraduate dissertation based on exercise promotion in the workplace.

Having been a Teacher/Lecturer for 19 years with experience in the state and private sectors, I have worked in pastoral, boarding and various leadership/management positions. A Director of Sport for almost 6 years in a very successful Sixth Form College, I also worked as Director of Sport, Fitness and Wellbeing for almost 7 years in a leading Girls’ Independent school. Since September 2017 I have been Assistant Head (Co-Curricular) at the same school as well as continuing as a Deputy Housemistress, in a role I started in September 2011. I am also a Governor for a Hampshire-based primary school.

As Assistant Coach and Team Manager for the Surrey Storm Netball Performance League squad during 2015-2016, I enjoyed working in a high performance sport environment, having previously managed the National Colleges Netball programme and worked with the National Colleges squad. Coming 2nd in the 2016 league, with 8 wins and 1 loss (by just 1 goal) has been a real highlight of my Netball career. This is in addition to coaching various school Netball teams including the 2009 and 2010 Hampshire and Regional U19 Champions and National Schools Finalists, 2009 National Colleges Champions, 2010 National Colleges Runner-Up and the 2016 U19 Kent Champions and Regional Finalists.

I worked in the Health and Fitness industry for many years prior to and alongside teaching and my experiences included local authority managed, national chains as well as private health clubs. Delivering, assessing and verifying nationally recognised fitness qualifications has been a big part of my career, in addition to working with CYQ (as it was then called) awarding body as a Resource Writer and Quality Review Group member. This included writing various Nutrition, Anatomy/Physiology and Fitness resources and exam papers and in particular, the Nutrition and Weight Management manual that was used as the key course text for the Personal Trainer Award for some time. A keen writer, my portfolio of articles is developing and I was delighted to be commissioned by Elliot and Thompson publishers in 2016 to produce a comprehensive pupil and staff resource to accompany a book written by one of their authors.

With my varied background, I am excited to be able to offer professional services in media and publications, consultancy, education and training to individuals and organisations, and hope you are able to find out all that you need to from the website.
